So there I was with a fresh install of Linux Mint(20.2) and trying to setup Docker to enable to get about my work. However, the official instructions on the Docker website were a bit confusing. So here are the steps that I did to make it work. Fire up the terminal and go through the following commands.
sudo apt remove docker docker-engine docker.io containerd runc sudo apt remove docker.io containerd runc sudo apt install apt-transport-https ca-certificates curl gnupg lsb-release curl -fsSL https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu/gpg | sudo gpg --dearmor -o /usr/share/keyrings/docker-archive-keyring.gpg echo "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/docker-archive-keyring.gpg] https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu focal stable" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/docker.list > /dev/null sudo apt update sudo apt install -y docker-ce docker-ce-cli containerd.io sudo groupadd docker sudo usermod -aG docker $USER
Now Log of and login again. Now test if everything is rosy ..
docker run hello-world
If you see this then you are good to get busy with docker.
